Frequently asked questions
Do I need a dance partner? No. It’s quite common for men and women to come on their own. If you book into a class early we will do our best to organise a dance partner for you. However, we can’t guarantee that you will always be partnered.
What if I haven’t done any dancing before? No problem! Our beginner classes are designed for absolute beginners.
Is there a maximum age limit? Absolutely not! As long as you can walk, you can dance.
Do I need dance shoes? Dance shoes have suede soles for the right amount of grip and slip on the dance floor, but are not necessary when you first start dancing. As long as your shoes are comfortable and don’t stick to the floor, they’ll be fine. If you’d like to get some dance shoes later on, let us know and we’ll point you in the right direction.
What should I wear? Just wear something comfortable. Layers are a good idea because you’re likely to get hot.
Does it matter if I miss one or two classes during the 4 Months course? No. We repeat the steps so you shouldn’t have any problems catching up, but if you really feel you are behind you can book a private lesson.
Do you change partners during class? Yes, we regularly ask the class to change partners. This helps you adapt to different dance styles. It’s also a great way to meet other people in the class, but if you and your partner are more comfortable dancing with each other, you don’t have to change.
How many lessons will I need? Everybody is different and the number of lessons you’ll need will depend on your own dancing goals. To dance socially, and with confidence, could take anywhere from 4 Months. If you have more challenging goals in mind, let us know.
I have just started a beginner class and have friends who would also love to join – is that okay? Yes, others are welcome to join the class on week two – just contact us so we can book them in. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to join a beginner class after week two.
